Mended is part of my Fragments of What Remains series — a collection of contemporary metal artworks exploring memory, nostalgia and the traces we carry through life.
Layered, stitched and held together, this piece brings together copper, brass and nickel silver, etched, embossed and weathered by hand. Surfaces are marked and worn, echoing cloth, repair and the passing of time.
The enamelled button is a quiet nod to childhood — to the button box that fascinated me growing up, full of tiny treasures, memories and stories waiting to be held.
For me, Mended is about gathering the fragments that matter most.
The marks left by people we love. Relationships. Places. Fleeting moments. The things that shape us and stay with us, even when life shifts around them.
