This square copper ring began life more than three decades ago, etched during my early metalworking days at university. The texture has a rugged, weathered quality that reminds me of the slate and rock edges found along the Cornish coastline — irregular, layered and full of quiet strength.
Each ring is cut, shaped and finished by hand in my St Austell studio, leaving the original etching to shine through. The copper carries its own history, warmed through natural patination and polished back to a soft glow. No two pieces will ever be alike; the marked surface tells its own story.
