This lovely Fish Talisman necklace is made by hand in my workshop in St Austell, Cornwall. The fish is cut from copper and given its scale pattern using a wire-embossing technique, pressing the lines directly into the metal. A brass eye and small brass accents add a clear, simple contrast - A quirky piece to make a statement.
Living by the sea, I’m drawn to the shapes and movement of fish — they appear often in my work. Copper is a favourite metal to use: it has a natural warmth and takes on marks and texture in a very direct way. Over time it develops its own patina, influenced by the air, the wearer and the way it’s stored. That surface change is partly out of my control, and I like that each piece will continue to evolve.
