A bit about me...
I’m Belinda — a metalsmith and artist with one foot in Stoke-on-Trent and the other firmly in St Austell. I grew up among colour, clay and everyday makers who believed in honest materials and having a go. That early mix of grit, pattern and creativity has stayed with me ever since.
I originally trained in metalwork at university, but life carried me in other creative directions for many years. Returning to metal after almost 30 years has felt like coming home — a familiar rhythm, a way of making that connects me straight back to myself.
When I moved to Cornwall six years ago, the light here opened everything up. My work became brighter, more expressive and far more playful — shaped by the colours, energy and shifting moods of the coast. Now I cut, hammer and layer copper, brass and nickel into small collaged shapes, each one textured and built by hand until it feels alive and full of character.
My jewellery carries a bit of Stoke’s grounded spirit and a bit of Cornwall’s bright joy — a combination that feels just right to me. Alongside jewellery, I paint, stitch and make wire pieces whenever colour or texture needs a different outlet. It’s all part of the same story: responding to place, following instinct, and celebrating the small sparks of joy you get from making something with your hands.
If one of my pieces finds its way to you, I hope it brings colour, character and a little lift to your day — something expressive, a little unexpected, and full of the places that make me who I am.
